Bedatu Hirpa of Ethiopia finished second in 2:20:45, and Kenya’s Angela Tanui took third in 2:21:07. (worldathletics.org) The official race site said 57,464 runners finished the 49th edition of the Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris. The course ran from the Champs-Élysées to Avenue Foch through central Paris. (schneiderelectricparismarathon.com) Crippa’s win added a major marathon title to a résumé built largely on track and half-marathon racing. World Athletics identified the Paris race as a Gold Label road event, one of the sport’s top tiers for international marathons. (worldathletics.org) Demise’s time lowered the women’s course mark previously held by Judith Jeptum of Kenya at 2:19:48 from 2022. Crippa’s 2:05:18 left him more than a minute outside the men’s course record of 2:04:21 set by Elisha Rotich in 2021. (worldathletics.org; schneiderelectricparismarathon.com) Associated Press reported that nearly 60,000 runners took part, underscoring how Paris has become one of Europe’s biggest mass-participation marathons as well as an elite race. The official site published finish lists and individual results after the race. (apnews.com; schneiderelectricparismarathon.com) Paris ended the weekend with one new course record, one first-place finish for Italy, and tens of thousands of finishers crossing the same line on Avenue Foch.
