Data Ramp Launches Zero-PII Data Network

Data Ramp and Aspire North have partnered to launch 0cean℠, a data network designed for organizations to exchange information without sharing personally identifiable information (PII). The platform leverages Data Ramp's "zero trust" data exchange solution and Aspire North's precision marketing data from Experian.

- The core technology, known as 1lx℠, functions as an intelligent agent that operates within an organization's own cloud environment (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or IBM Cloud). This allows for data cleaning, identity resolution, and enrichment to occur without the underlying personally identifiable information (PII) ever being moved or copied to a third-party system. - A key technical capability of the 0cean℠ network is its patented, "fuzzy-matching" logic that can identify relationships between datasets behind each party's firewall. This is accomplished using privacy-preserving techniques that allow for the comparison of de-identified data, ensuring that raw PII is never exposed during the matching process. - The zero-trust model is particularly relevant for healthcare organizations as it helps enforce the principle of least-privilege access to sensitive patient data. This architecture can help manage access for a diverse range of users, including clinicians, administrators, and third-party vendors, to various systems like electronic health records (EHRs) and billing platforms. - For a healthcare setting, a zero-trust network can facilitate faster and more secure access to critical information, such as lab results, by enabling efficient, single-authorization access for verified users across different systems. This approach also supports HIPAA compliance by enforcing minimum necessary access and providing detailed audit trails of data interactions. - The partnership with Aspire North integrates Experian's consumer data, including over 850 demographic, behavioral, and lifestyle attributes, into this zero-PII network. This allows organizations to enrich their first-party data with these insights without giving up control over their own sensitive customer information. - Unlike traditional data clean rooms where data is often moved to a supposedly neutral third-party environment, the 0cean℠ network's architecture ensures that an organization's data remains within its own security perimeter. This design mitigates the risks associated with data movement and provides greater control over data sovereignty and compliance. - The founder and CEO of Data Ramp, Kim Addington, has previously led the company in launching other data optimization and identity services for regulated industries. These services have focused on improving data quality and readiness for AI and analytics applications while maintaining high standards of security and compliance.
