Bengaluru airport praised
Travel posts are calling Bengaluru’s airport a “masterpiece” and one of the world’s most beautiful hubs — users are sharing visuals of the design and passenger experience as a new reason to route travel through the city visual thread.
Bengaluru’s Terminal 2 won a global design nod at the Prix Versailles (the World Special Prize for an Interior) in 2023, recognising it among the world’s most beautiful airport terminals [aci-asiapac.aero]. The building was officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 11, 2022, after a roughly Rs 5,000 crore construction phase, and the new terminal adds about 25 million annual passenger capacity to the airport’s network [pib.gov.in]. The terminal was led by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) with landscape by Grant Associates and fashion designers Abu Jani‑Sandeep Khosla contributing interiors, and features more than 10,000 square metres of green walls, hanging gardens and outdoor planting that underpin its “terminal in a garden” identity [som.com]. Public figures and creators amplified the applause: industrialist Harsh Goenka called T2 a “masterpiece” and compared it to Singapore’s Changi [hindustantimes.com], while viral videos from international travel creators (including a Japanese vlogger) helped push the terminal into global social feeds as airlines began shifting operations into T2 following its opening [economictimes.indiatimes.com].
