NorCal Burger Chain Gott's Hits LA
Gott's Roadside, the popular Northern California burger chain, has opened its first Los Angeles location at The Grove. The restaurant is known for its classic American menu featuring high-quality ingredients, bringing its cult following to Southern California.
Before it was Gott's, the Napa Valley institution was a 50-year-old burger shack called Taylor's Refresher. Brothers Joel and Duncan Gott took over in 1999, eventually rebranding to Gott's Roadside in 2010 after a trademark dispute with the original owner's family. The original Taylor's Refresher sign still stands at the St. Helena location as a nod to its history. The chain's "cult following" is built on a fine-dining approach to roadside classics, using locally sourced, high-quality ingredients. Burgers are made with Niman Ranch beef, turkey patties come from Diestel Family Ranch, and menu items like the "California Burger" feature Zoe's bacon and Cowgirl Creamery cheese. One of the most iconic menu items that set Gott's apart from a typical burger stand is the Ahi Burger. This dish features a sushi-grade Ahi tuna filet seared rare, served with ginger wasabi mayo and Asian slaw on a toasted egg bun. The new location at The Grove, which officially opens on March 6, 2026, is the brand's first foray into Southern California after expanding to nine locations across the Bay Area, including outposts in San Francisco's Ferry Building and near the Chase Center. This expansion is part of a larger Southern California strategy, with a second location planned for Santa Monica in the summer of 2026. The Grove spot is strategically located at the iconic Original Farmers Market, a high-traffic destination that draws both locals and tourists. A unique feature of the Los Angeles location at The Grove is a dedicated soft-serve window. This is a first for the brand and will offer Strauss organic vanilla, chocolate, and swirl flavors with a variety of classic toppings and dips.
