New Premium Cocktail Bar 'Hidden Society' Coming to Fitzrovia
Hospitality group Nightcap plans to launch a new cocktail bar called Hidden Society in London's Fitzrovia. The concept is designed to offer a calmer, more premium experience, though an official opening date has not yet been announced.
Nightcap's new "Hidden Society" is a strategic pivot, transforming an existing branch of its high-energy The Cocktail Club on Goodge Street into a premium, conversation-led venue. The original bar was known for a "raucous, unpretentious, uncomplicated cocktail based fun" atmosphere, targeting a younger, party-focused crowd with theatrical, flaming drinks. This move marks a significant departure from that established identity. The new concept aims for a spot on the prestigious Top 50 Cocktail Bars list, focusing on "precision drinks" and a "calmer, more considered alternative" to high-volume nightlife. CEO Sarah Willingham stated the goal is to create a space that complements Fitzrovia's creative energy where people can "feel immediately at ease." The interior design will feature rich materials, softened lighting, and a layout intended to encourage conversation. This premium-focused venture aligns with a broader trend in London's cocktail scene, which is seeing a rise in innovative concepts, immersive experiences, and artisanal quality. It also follows the recent opening of other high-end Fitzrovia bars like the Punch Room at the London Edition, known for its intimate, decadent feel. "Hidden Society" will reportedly feature a concealed area within the venue to create a sense of discovery for guests. A job posting for the General Manager role emphasizes the importance of leading a culture and acting as the "primary 'Host' of the Society," indicating a strong focus on a curated guest experience over high turnover. This transformation is part of a wider strategy by parent company Nightcap, which has recently been accelerating the refurbishment and rebranding of underperforming venues within its extensive portfolio. The group, led by former "Dragon's Den" investor Sarah Willingham, turned a £4.8m EBITDA loss into a £1.5m profit in its 2024-2025 fiscal year and is actively pursuing acquisitions and consolidation in the UK bar market.
