Tech Giant HONOR Unveils New AI-Powered Devices
At MWC 2026, tech firm HONOR advanced its AI vision by unveiling a robot phone and a humanoid robot. This push into AI-integrated hardware is set to influence how fashion campaigns are created and experienced, particularly through interactive and device-based storytelling.
The HONOR Robot Phone features a 200MP camera on a three-axis mechanical gimbal, supported by a micro motor 70% smaller than average to maintain a slim profile. This enables AI-powered features like "AI SpinShot" for automatic 90° and 180° rotations during filming and subject tracking for video calls. The device is expected to launch in China in the second half of 2026. This MWC 2026 announcement is part of HONOR's broader "ALPHA PLAN," a strategy to become a leading AI device ecosystem company. The plan focuses on an "Augmented Human Intelligence" vision, extending AI across a new flagship foldable phone (the Magic V6), the MagicPad 4 tablet, and the MagicBook Pro 14 laptop. HONOR has previously engaged with the fashion world, collaborating with design house CuteCircuit for London Fashion Week in September 2025 to create an AI co-created outfit inspired by the Magic V5 smartphone. The company also partnered with KOCHÉ during Paris Fashion Week in 2018 and South African brand GALXBOY in July 2024. The move aligns with a broader industry trend where luxury brands are leveraging AI for marketing and production. Gucci utilized AI-generated virtual models for its Fall/Winter 2025 campaign, while Burberry has used AI to animate archival photographs. Brands like Dior and Louis Vuitton use AI chatbots for personalized customer service, and an estimated 35% of luxury brands have implemented augmented reality for virtual try-ons. This integration of AI is proving to have a significant business impact. E-commerce marketplace Zalando reported that AI tools cut their production costs by as much as 90% in 2024. Meanwhile, Zegna has seen customers who use its AI-powered clienteling service spend 75% more than in-store shoppers.
