Tesla Plans Massive Charging Station
Tesla announced plans to build a single charging station with 400 next-gen stalls, the largest in its global network. This aims to ease congestion and support its growing fleet of Tesla Semis and other vehicles.
The new station, dubbed "Eddie World 2" in planning documents, will be located in Yermo, California, along the I-15 corridor between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. This location is strategically chosen to address the high EV traffic and persistent bottlenecks during peak travel times. The expansion will occur in six phases, starting with 72 V4 stalls slated for construction later this year. The Yermo location already hosts an existing Supercharger with 22 V2 and V3 stalls. The new V4 Superchargers can deliver up to 500kW, though older Teslas will charge at their maximum supported rate. The completed project will more than double the size of the current record-holder, the "Project Oasis" station in Lost Hills, California, which has 168 stalls. Tesla is also working with Pilot Company to install chargers for its Semi trucks at Pilot travel centers along major US highways such as I-5 and I-10. These chargers will use Tesla's V4 cabinet charging technology, delivering up to 1.2MW at each stall. Congestion fees may also be implemented, charging users $1 per minute when charging above 90 percent at busy Supercharger locations.
