League City Fire Dept Hosts Open House
The League City Fire Department will hold its 3rd Annual Open House on March 7th. The community event offers a chance for residents to meet firefighters, learn about fire safety, and see the department's equipment up close.
The event will take place on Saturday, March 28th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the fire field located at 911 N. Kansas Ave. This free, family-friendly event provides a behind-the-scenes look at the work of League City's volunteer firefighters. Attendees can expect a variety of live demonstrations, including a car fire and a vehicle extraction demo. There will also be guided tours and games for children. A range of emergency response vehicles will be on display for up-close viewing. These include a fire engine, ladder truck, ambulance, rescue boat, and a high-water truck. The open house serves as a recruitment opportunity for individuals interested in becoming volunteer firefighters. Current department members will be available to discuss the training, service commitments, and the process for getting involved. The League City Volunteer Fire Department's public outreach extends beyond this single event. Throughout the year, the department conducts fire safety presentations at local schools and daycares and offers scheduled tours at its six fire stations for community groups. During these educational presentations, firefighters demonstrate their protective gear to help alleviate children's fear and teach them to run to, not away from, a firefighter in an emergency. The department emphasizes fire safety messages such as "Get Out and Stay Out" and "Get Low and Go".
