SZA Teases 2026 Music Plans

SZA gave an exclusive interview about her creative process and new music in 2026, discussing her evolving views on technology and public life. Speaking from a family celebration, SZA demonstrated her trademark charisma while hinting at upcoming projects and reflecting on her journey through fame, politics, and AI's implications in music. The interview offers a rare glimpse into SZA's world as she prepares to shape the R&B landscape again.

SZA's forthcoming music follows a massively successful period, with her 2022 album "SOS" spending 10 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The album was reissued as a deluxe version titled "LANA" in 2024, adding new tracks to the critically acclaimed project. The artist's creative drive for her new material is a response to the rise of artificial intelligence in music. She stated in an interview that she's not competing with other artists, but with "anti-intellectualism and doing things easy," aiming to let her angst drive her in "bizarre directions". This new musical era comes after a banner year in 2025. SZA starred in the Issa Rae-produced film "One of Them Days," performed at the Super Bowl LIX halftime show alongside Kendrick Lamar, and their collaboration "Luther" topped the Billboard Hot 100 for 13 weeks. Following this, the pair embarked on the co-headlining Grand National stadium tour. In early 2026, SZA also joined forces with hip-hop artist Doechii for a surprise collaboration titled "girl, get up". Additionally, it has been reported that SZA and Steve Lacy have worked on a "random little project" together, though further details have not been released.
