Meta puts affiliate shopping into Reels

Meta now lets creators embed affiliate and shopping links directly into Facebook and Instagram Reels — part of a push that includes creator incentives like Fast Track payments and tighter in-app commerce tools. That makes experience with shoppable short-form content and affiliate performance metrics a concrete line-item to show on a marketing portfolio. (engadget.com) (businessinsider.com)

Meta will allow eligible creators to tag up to 30 distinct products in a single Reel, and Facebook creators may be limited to tagging products from marketplace partners such as Amazon. (engadget.com) Meta expanded its Facebook affiliate program to include partners such as Amazon, eBay and Temu in the U.S., Mercado Libre in Latin America, and Shopee in Asia. (retailbrew.com) On March 18, 2026 Meta launched “Creator Fast Track,” which provides three months of guaranteed pay, increased reach for eligible Reels, and immediate access to Facebook Content Monetization. (about.fb.com) Creator Fast Track pays $1,000 per month to creators with at least 100,000 followers on Instagram, TikTok or YouTube and $3,000 per month to creators with more than one million followers. (about.fb.com) Meta reported paying nearly $3 billion to creators in 2025, a 35% increase from the prior year, and said 60% of its 2025 creator payouts went to Reels. (about.fb.com) Meta said it is not taking a cut from creators’ sales through these affiliate links “for now,” while the company will gain direct purchase data from in-app shopping activity. (engadget.com) Meta is also testing an Instagram affiliate flow that lets creators tag items from a brand’s catalog or use affiliate links in Reels, and the company announced a new “Buy Now” button that can appear inside ads to speed checkout.
