Google Vids simplifies workplace video
Google Vids is being promoted as a tool that turns documents into professional-looking workplace videos, reducing the need for traditional production crews. (livemint.com) (english.loktej.com)
Google is pitching Google Vids as a workplace tool that can turn a prompt and a company document into a draft video inside Google Workspace. (workspace.google.com) In Google’s help pages, the “Help me create” feature can take a written prompt plus files from Google Drive and generate an outline, scene text, stock media, a script and a voiceover. Google also says Vids includes a recording studio, templates and a read-along teleprompter. (support.google.com 1) (support.google.com 2) Google says Vids is generally available on Google Workspace Business and Enterprise plans, and its pricing page now lists “Google Vids AI-powered video creator and editor” in Business Starter, Standard and Plus. The product page says teams can use it for employee training, company announcements, customer support and project updates. (workspace.google.com 1) (workspace.google.com 2) The pitch lands as office software companies try to make video behave more like slides or documents: something a manager can draft alone, revise quickly and share across a company. Google’s product page frames Vids as a way to get to a first draft faster with stock media, background music and suggested scenes built in. (workspace.google.com) That changes who can make routine business video. Instead of booking a studio or editing from scratch, a team can start with a sales deck, training memo or project brief and let the software assemble a storyboard around it. (support.google.com) (workspace.google.com) Google has kept adding features around that workflow. In April 2025, at Google Cloud Next, the company said it was bringing new Google Workspace artificial intelligence tools across Docs, Sheets, Chat and other apps; by May 2025 it said new Gemini updates were coming directly into Gmail, Meet, Vids and Docs. (blog.google 1) (blog.google 2) In June 2025, Google said Vids users would be able to create with Veo 3, its video-generation model, from within the app. In early April 2026, Google Workspace said it was adding avatar updates and Lyria 3 music generation to help companies make on-brand videos at scale. (workspace.google.com) (workspace.google.com) The limits are still clear in Google’s own documentation. Most Gemini features in Google Vids, including “Help me create,” artificial intelligence voiceover and the teleprompter, are only available in English, even though viewing and editing are available more broadly. (support.google.com) (support.google.com) Google is not saying every corporate video needs no human work. Its help pages still assume users will review the draft, swap media, record themselves, trim the script and edit scenes — but the company is clearly trying to move the first cut of workplace video into the same browser tab where people already write the memo.
