Vital Proteins Launches Collagen Sparkling Water
America's top collagen brand, Vital Proteins, is entering the beverage aisle by unveiling a new line of collagen-infused sparkling water. The fruit-flavored drinks contain VERISOL collagen peptides and Vitamin C, aiming to merge the hydration and wellness markets.
This move into the beverage aisle follows Nestlé Health Science's complete acquisition of Vital Proteins in 2022. Nestlé had initially purchased a majority stake in the collagen brand in 2020, signaling a major investment in the growing wellness and nutritional science space. This is not the company's first attempt at a collagen-infused drink. Vital Proteins previously launched a line of ready-to-drink collagen waters back in 2019, which were later discontinued. The company re-entered the ready-to-drink market in 2025 with a collagen and protein shake. The key ingredient, VERISOL®, is a patented form of bioactive collagen peptides sourced from grass-fed, pasture-raised bovine. It is specifically engineered to be absorbed intact and stimulate the fibroblast cells in the skin to increase their own collagen production. Clinical studies on VERISOL® have suggested it can produce a statistically significant reduction in eye wrinkle volume and an increase in skin elasticity within weeks of daily intake. The formulation contains Types I and III collagen, which are crucial for the health of skin, hair, and nails. The inclusion of Vitamin C is strategic, as it is an essential cofactor in the body's own collagen synthesis process. It helps stabilize the collagen molecules and also acts as an antioxidant, protecting existing collagen from damage. This launch places Vital Proteins directly into the rapidly expanding functional beverage market, a sector projected to reach over $315 billion by 2033. The global market for collagen supplements alone is also on a significant growth trajectory, expected to reach $6.6 billion by 2025 as consumers increasingly seek out "beauty-from-within" products.
