Fox ESS Sets Energy Storage Efficiency Record

Renewable energy firm Fox ESS has achieved a record System Performance Index (SPI) of 97% for its energy storage solutions. The new benchmark, confirmed by HTW rankings, marks a significant milestone in reducing energy loss during storage and retrieval.

The new 97% System Performance Index (SPI) benchmark was set by Fox ESS's 10 kW DC system, which includes the PQ-H3-Ultra-10.0 hybrid inverter. This achievement surpasses the previous top score from the 2025 inspection, which was 96.4% achieved by manufacturer RCT Power. The evaluation is conducted as part of the annual "Energy Storage Inspection" by the Berlin University of Applied Sciences (HTW Berlin), a highly regarded independent study in the region. The SPI measures how effectively a storage system reduces grid electricity consumption and optimizes the use of self-generated solar power, accounting for all energy losses. For consumers, higher efficiency translates directly to greater energy savings. The 97% SPI means only 3% of stored energy is lost during the charge and discharge cycle. This optimized performance is complemented by a low standby power consumption of just 4 watts, further minimizing wasted energy. This record marks a significant improvement for Fox ESS, whose system in the 2025 inspection achieved a still- commendable SPI of 94.8%. The year-over-year advancement highlights the company's rapid innovation in a competitive field that includes major players like SMA, Kostal, and Fronius. Founded in 2019, Fox ESS has seen a rapid ascent in the renewable energy sector, backed by a 400-strong R&D team. The company's growth has been recognized with a valuation exceeding 10 billion RMB, placing it on Forbes' "Unicorn List" as it expands its product ecosystem beyond residential storage to include EV chargers and commercial solutions. Looking ahead, Fox ESS is expanding its focus to include larger-scale applications. The company has announced a new generation of three-phase hybrid inverters (H3 Plus) and scalable solutions for commercial and industrial (C&I) customers, signaling a broader ambition in the global energy transition. The company is also integrating artificial intelligence into its offerings, with the "FoxCloud 2.0" AI system designed to improve energy management and grid integration for large-scale solar installations. This focus on smart technology aligns with industry trends toward maximizing the utility of renewable energy assets. This latest efficiency record is part of a larger pattern of success for the company. Earlier in 2026, S&P Global ranked Fox ESS as the market share leader for residential energy storage in Europe, underscoring its growing influence in the industry.
