ORS Haircare Partners with HBCU Org

ORS™ Haircare has partnered with HBCU Culture Shop for a limited-edition collaboration. The initiative is designed to celebrate the legacy of Historically Black Colleges and Universities and support students through community engagement.

The limited-edition packaging, co-created with HBCU Culture Shop, adorns select ORS Olive Oil products with bold, pride-inspired designs reflecting the collective identity of HBCUs. This collaboration between two brands rooted in culture and community debuted during Black History Month to honor the institutions that have cultivated generations of leaders and innovators. The partnership features HBCU-themed versions of popular ORS Olive Oil products, including the Edge Control Hair Gel, Strengthen & Restore Replenishing Conditioner, and Deep Cleansing Creamy Aloe Shampoo. These items are available nationwide at major retailers like Target, Walmart, CVS, and Walgreens, as well as online. This collaboration is part of a larger, long-term commitment from ORS Haircare to support HBCU-centered initiatives. Future plans include a tour of HBCU campuses and student-focused programming aimed at providing self-care knowledge and boosting confidence. HBCU Culture Shop was founded in 2017 by Dainelle Riley, a Florida A&M University alumna, out of frustration with the lack of available and fashionable HBCU apparel. A portion of every certified HBCU sale from the shop is directed back to the institutions. For Riley, this partnership is a "full-circle moment," connecting her HBCU journey with the idea that hair is an extension of identity and cultural expression. The collegiate apparel market generates over $4.6 billion annually, yet HBCUs have been historically underrepresented by major retailers. ORS Haircare, formerly Organic Root Stimulator, was founded in 1996 to cater to the health-conscious, multi-cultural consumer with a focus on natural ingredients. The company has a history of community support, including the ORS Cares initiative, which provided grants to Black hairstylists and salon owners affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
