Benzinga, Bloom Partner on Investor Ed
Financial data provider Benzinga and investing platform Bloom have established a relationship to bring institutional-grade market context and financial education to younger investors. The partnership aims to improve financial literacy for a new generation focused on long-term wealth building.
The partnership will embed key Benzinga tools directly into the Bloom platform, including the "Why Is It Moving" (WIIM) feature, which offers real-time, one-sentence explanations for stock price fluctuations. This tool analyzes press releases, SEC filings, and news reports to provide concise reasons for market activity. Bloom will also integrate Benzinga's Earnings Calendar to help users understand company reporting and its impact on stock prices. This collaboration targets a significant financial literacy gap among young Americans. Two-thirds of Gen Z, for instance, could only answer 50% or less of questions on a financial literacy test. This demographic is increasingly turning to digital tools for financial information, with 39% learning about finance from social media platforms like YouTube and TikTok. The partnership aims to provide institutional-grade information within the educational framework of an app. Bloom, founded in 2021, has attracted over 1 million users to its platform, which combines interactive financial lessons with a gamified rewards system and real investing accounts. The app is designed to teach long-term investing principles and risk management, contrasting with platforms that may encourage speculative, short-term trading. The integration leverages AI to enhance the educational experience. Bloom features an AI assistant named "Bloomie" that helps users research stocks, understand market trends, and even build investment portfolios based on themes like clean energy. Benzinga also utilizes AI and machine learning to analyze news sentiment and identify market-moving stories from over 1,000 sources, which will now feed into the Bloom app.
