Brunch Spot 'Bloom Eatery' Expands to Downtown San Jose

Bloom Eatery, a popular brunch restaurant in Santa Clara, is expanding with a new location in downtown San Jose. Owner Reza Manion will open the new spot at 225 W. Santa Clara St. later this year.

The new downtown San Jose outpost of Bloom Eatery will move into the space formerly occupied by Opa!, a Greek restaurant. The location at 225 W. Santa Clara Street places it directly across from another recently opened establishment, The Pressroom, adding to a growing dining hub in the area. Owner Reza Manion is a Santa Clara native with roots in the local restaurant scene; his family owns the popular breakfast spot Sara's Kitchen. He and co-owner Kiara Burkett opened the original Bloom Eatery on Saratoga Avenue in November 2020, facing the challenge of launching during the pandemic with initial restrictions limiting them to takeout and limited outdoor dining. The Santa Clara location is known for its modern, upscale take on American breakfast and lunch classics, using locally sourced, fresh ingredients. Popular menu items include croissant French toast, chicken and waffles with spicy honey, and a variety of eggs benedict, such as a signature version with jumbo lump crab. Bloom aims to create a unique dining experience by pairing its brunch dishes with a full bar that offers craft cocktails. The restaurant's philosophy focuses on a minimalist approach while providing vegetarian-friendly options, with the goal of bringing community members together around the table. The planned opening for the new downtown San Jose location is slated for November 2025.
