TikTok's Analytics Are Breaking Down
TikTok's analytics suite is proving increasingly unreliable, with widespread reports of dashboards failing to update, data disappearing, or being incomplete. The persistent issues are forcing creators and marketers to use third-party tools and manual workarounds, creating major operational risks for campaigns.
Widespread platform instability has been an issue before, with a major infrastructure problem in January 2026 causing significant app glitches. At the time, TikTok attributed the disruption to a power outage at a U.S. data center which resulted in a "cascading systems failure." The glitches impacted more than just analytics, with users reporting broken "For You" page algorithms, content failing to upload, and videos erroneously displaying zero views or likes. These issues occurred shortly after the company's ownership was restructured into a new U.S.-led entity, leading to user speculation about the timing. Even when functioning, there can be significant delays in data reporting. TikTok's native analytics can take up to 72 hours to fully and accurately process metrics, a lag that frustrates creators tracking real-time performance. Access to these analytics also requires users to switch their personal accounts to a "Creator" or "Business" profile. In response to the unreliability, a market for more robust, third-party analytics has grown. Tools like Sprout Social, Iconosquare, and Pentos offer deeper insights, including competitor monitoring and tracking of trending sounds and hashtags. These services provide an alternative data source when the official dashboards fail.
