Kansas Dominates UCF 56-35

Kansas stifled UCF in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament 56-35, holding their opponent to just 35 points behind a suffocating defensive performance. The Jayhawks advance with their defense looking tournament-ready.

The 35 points scored by UCF were the fewest in the history of the Big 12 Tournament. The previous low was 36 points, which occurred when Baylor defeated Oklahoma State 76-36 on March 11, 2022. UCF's offense struggled significantly, shooting just 25% from the field (14 of 57) and a mere 11% from three-point range (2 of 19). The Knights were held scoreless for the final 5:50 of the game. Kansas freshman Jaliya Davis was the only player for the Jayhawks to score in double figures, recording her third career double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. For UCF, graduate guard Jaccoriah Bracey was also the lone double-digit scorer with 10 points. The Jayhawks broke the game open with a 15-0 run that spanned the first and second quarters, pushing their lead to 24-10. Kansas went into halftime with a 27-17 lead and never looked back. With the victory, No. 11 seed Kansas improves to 19-12 on the season and advances to the second round of the tournament. They have a quick turnaround, facing No. 6 seed Colorado on Thursday night at the T-Mobile Center. This win marks KU's first postseason victory over UCF and improves their all-time record against the Knights to 4-1. UCF's season ends with a record of 11-19.
