Nine NYC restaurants added

Michelin updated its 2026 New York City guide by adding nine restaurants in the latest round, with Brooklyn receiving five of those additions and Manhattan four. Michelin added nine New York City restaurants to its 2026 guide update on April 15, putting five Brooklyn spots and four Manhattan spots into this year’s selection. (guide.michelin.com, ny.eater.com) The Brooklyn additions are Entre Nous in Clinton Hill, Los Burritos Juárez in Fort Greene, Bong in Crown Heights, Vato in Park Slope, and I Cavallini in Williamsburg. Michelin’s Manhattan additions are Le Chêne in Greenwich Village, Hwaro in Midtown West, Smithereens in the East Village, and Sunn’s in Chinatown. (guide.michelin.com, aol.com) Michelin said these additions are not stars or Bib Gourmands yet. The guide adds restaurants to the selection twice a year, then reveals Stars and Bib Gourmands later at its annual ceremony. (guide.michelin.com, guide.michelin.com) Inspectors said they judge restaurants on ingredient quality, harmony of flavors, mastery of techniques, the chef’s voice, and consistency across visits. Michelin also says its inspectors dine anonymously and pay their own way. (aol.com, crainsnewyork.com) The April list tilts toward Brooklyn at a moment when Michelin’s New York guide already covers more than 350 city restaurants. This round ranges from a Fort Greene burrito shop to a Williamsburg Italian dining room and a Crown Heights Cambodian restaurant. (guide.michelin.com, guide.michelin.com) Michelin’s own notes sketch the variety it picked: Los Burritos Juárez for El Paso and Ciudad Juárez-style burritos, Bong for shared Cambodian plates, and Vato for house-made flour tortilla burritos from the team behind Michelin-starred Corima. (guide.michelin.com) In Manhattan, Michelin highlighted Le Chêne’s classic French cooking, Hwaro’s 22-seat Korean counter inside Gui Steakhouse, and Smithereens’ seafood-heavy menu from chef Nick Tamburo. (guide.michelin.com, guide.michelin.com, guide.michelin.com) For restaurants, a “new” Michelin marker can move bookings months before any star awards arrive. For diners, it is Michelin’s public signal of which addresses inspectors think are already worth tracking in 2026. (guide.michelin.com, uk.style.yahoo.com)
