NHL Action: Sharks Upset Oilers

Wild NHL results saw Sharks beat Oilers in a late thriller, Islanders win in OT with Holmstrom scoring, Avalanche get 2 goals from Makar, and Stars win in OT with Robertson scoring. Sabres extended their win streak to 3 straight while Kraken sank the Canucks with Eberle and Stephenson combining for 6 points.

The victory for San Jose snapped a five-game winless streak (0-4-1). This win was their first since a January 27th victory in Vancouver. The win served as redemption after the Sharks' previous meeting with the Oilers, a game in which San Jose blew a 3-0 third-period lead and ultimately lost in overtime. This time, they held on for the 5-4 victory. Sharks defenseman Shakir Mukhamadullin was the hero, breaking a 4-4 tie midway through the third period with a slap shot from the point. This decisive goal came with 10:39 remaining in the game. The Sharks saw a balanced offensive effort with 12 different players registering at least one point. San Jose got off to a strong start, building a 3-1 lead in the first period, with goals from Macklin Celebrini, Michael Misa, and Barclay Goodrow. Despite the loss, Oilers superstar Connor McDavid continued his prolific season, tallying three assists to bring his NHL-leading point total to 103. Teammate Evan Bouchard also had a strong offensive night with a goal and two assists.
