Bam Joins Heat's 10K Club

Bam Adebayo became just the second player in Miami Heat history to reach 10,000 career points, joining franchise legend Dwyane Wade. Adebayo reflected on his journey from defensive specialist to perennial All-Star, underscoring his growth and value to the Heat organization. The milestone caps off his evolution into one of the league's most well-rounded big men.

The milestone was reached in a 121-110 victory over the Detroit Pistons, where Adebayo scored 24 points, needing 23 to cross the 10,000-point threshold. In that same game, he matched his career-high with four three-pointers, a testament to his expanded offensive arsenal. Drafted 14th overall in the 2017 NBA draft, Adebayo was initially recognized for his defensive prowess and was not primarily seen as a scoring threat. His rookie season saw him average 6.9 points per game, a number that has grown significantly over his eight-year career. Adebayo's journey to 10,000 points includes three NBA All-Star selections and five NBA All-Defensive Team honors. This highlights his development into a premier two-way player in the league, a long way from being considered just a "lob threat" early in his career. While Dwyane Wade's franchise record of 21,556 points is still a considerable distance away, Adebayo is closing in on another significant Heat record. He is on track to surpass Udonis Haslem as the franchise's all-time leading rebounder.
