Bloom Eatery to Open in Downtown San Jose

Bloom Eatery, a popular brunch spot in Santa Clara, is expanding to downtown San Jose. The new location is set to open later this year at 225 W. Santa Clara St., following the restaurant's success since its 2020 opening.

Co-owner Reza Manion is a Santa Clara native whose family owns Sara's Kitchen, a local diner. Manion and co-owner Kiara Burkett aim to elevate classic American breakfast and lunch dishes with unique, upscale twists and fresh, local ingredients. The original Bloom Eatery is known for signature items like a jumbo crab Benedict, chicken and waffles drizzled with spicy honey, and a full craft cocktail bar designed to complement its brunch menu. The restaurant emphasizes from-scratch cooking and sources bread from artisan bakeries delivered fresh daily. The new location at 225 W. Santa Clara Street is a Class A office building constructed in 2001, placing the eatery in a central, high-traffic area. This positions Bloom within a neighborhood that has a "Walker's Paradise" score of 93 and an "Excellent Transit" score of 74, surrounded by other businesses and residential buildings. Bloom's expansion is part of a broader trend of new culinary investments in downtown San Jose, which has been the focus of long-term revitalization efforts. The area, once the agricultural heart of the Santa Clara Valley, has been intentionally developed to become a denser urban center. The restaurant will be entering a competitive brunch market with established players like The Breakfast Club, Bill of Fare, and the diverse offerings within the nearby San Pedro Square Market. This move also taps into downtown San Jose's growing identity as a major tech hub. The city is actively fostering an "AI ecosystem," with an estimated 23 venture-backed artificial intelligence companies already located in the downtown core.
