HYROX Athlete Breaks Debut Record

Alyssa McElheny completed her first HYROX in Las Vegas with a blistering 1:00:55, one of the fastest debuts in event history, after just 3 months of focused training under coach Joseph Olski at Eighth Day Gym. McElheny brings a strong running background, having qualified for the Olympic Trials with a 2:34 marathon, highlighting a trend of endurance athletes successfully transitioning to hybrid fitness.

- McElheny's time of 1:00:55 in Las Vegas was not only a record for a debut performance in the Women's Pro category, but it was also fast enough to win the event outright. She finished just ahead of Rachael Wade (1:01:01) and 2022 HYROX World Champion Kris Rugloski (1:04:40). - Her victory in the Pro division at Las Vegas was only her second HYROX event ever. - For comparison, the current HYROX Women's Pro world record is 56:03, held by Joanna Wietrzyk. The first woman to break the one-hour mark was Megan Jacoby at the 2024 World Championships in Nice, France, with a time of 58 minutes. - Before transitioning to hybrid fitness, McElheny was a standout distance runner at Calvin University, where she was a three-time All-MIAA First Team honoree in cross country and earned NCAA Division III All-America honors in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. - Her qualifying marathon time of 2:34:24 was achieved at the CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon, where she finished as the fifth female. This performance was a significant personal best, improving from a 2:37:31. - In April 2025, she won the Glass City Marathon, setting a new course record of 2:35:37 and shaving nearly five minutes off the previous record.
