The first woman to break the one-hour mark was Megan Jacoby at the 2024 World Championships in Nice, France, with a time of 58 minutes. - Before transitioning to hybrid fitness, McElheny was a standout distance runner at Calvin University, where she was a three-time All-MIAA First Team honoree in cross country and earned NCAA Division III All-America honors in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. - Her qualifying marathon time of 2:34:24 was achieved at the CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon, where she finished as the fifth female. This performance was a significant personal best, improving from a 2:37:31. - In April 2025, she won the Glass City Marathon, setting a new course record of 2:35:37 and shaving nearly five minutes off the previous record.
