Fashion Meets Salone
Coverage says brands from Prada to Louis Vuitton, Hermès and Nike are staging events across Fuorisalone, signaling a bigger fashion presence at Salone del Mobile this year. (domusweb.it) (esquire.com)
Milan Design Week is opening on April 21 with fashion houses taking up more room in the city’s parallel program, Fuorisalone, than they did a few years ago. (salonemilano.it) (domusweb.it) The 64th Salone del Mobile runs April 21-26 at Fiera Milano Rho, and the official guide says it will host more than 1,900 exhibitors from 32 countries. Fuorisalone, the citywide circuit that runs alongside it, lists 763 events in its official guide. (salonemilano.it) (fuorisalone.it) Domus’s 2026 guide puts Prada, Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Issey Miyake, Jil Sander, Nike and Asics in the same Milan Design Week conversation, alongside repeat participants such as Bottega Veneta. The magazine describes that fashion-design overlap as a “stable presence” in Fuorisalone rather than a one-off crossover. (domusweb.it) That shift has been building for years because Fuorisalone is not the trade fair itself. Forbes notes the city program grew from off-site shows staged in apartments, courtyards and factories, and now runs side by side with the commercial fair in neighborhoods such as Brera, Tortona, Porta Venezia and Isola. (forbes.com) Fashion brands use that format differently from furniture companies. Instead of booth launches at the fairgrounds, they stage exhibitions, talks and installations in palazzos, stores and historic venues across Milan. (domusweb.it) (forbes.com) Prada’s 2026 contribution is Prada Frames, a symposium curated with Formafantasma that runs April 19-21 and focuses on image-making under the title “In Sight.” WWD reported the fifth edition is free with preregistration and includes guided tours of the venue. (wwd.com) (wallpaper.com) Louis Vuitton is returning to Palazzo Serbelloni with a new Objets Nomades presentation from April 21-26. Coverage says the show also expands the house’s home offer through Signature Collection pieces, home decoration, textiles and tableware. (fashionpress.it) (flaunt.com) Issey Miyake is back as well, with “The Paper Log: Shell and Core,” an installation with Ensamble Studio that opens April 21 at Via Bagutta 12 and runs through May 5. Dezeen says the project reuses discarded rolls of paper from the brand’s pleating process for objects and furniture prototypes. (dezeen.com) Hermès has not been as easy to pin down in open 2026 listings, but the house is selling tickets through a dedicated Milan Design Week page, and its 2025 installation at La Pelota shows how firmly it has treated the week as a home-collections platform. That continuity is part of why fashion editors now cover Fuorisalone almost like a second Milan fashion calendar. (web.digitick.com) (hermes.com) (esquire.com) So when Salone opens on April 21, the fair at Rho will still be the furniture industry’s center of business. But in Milan’s streets and palazzos, some of the longest lines are now expected at brands better known for bags, silk and sneakers. (salonemilano.it) (domusweb.it)
