Spotify has added a fitness category to its app, folding workout videos, guided sessions and Peloton classes into the same place users already stream music. (newsroom.spotify.com) (techcrunch.com) The feature launched April 27 and appears in Spotify’s Fitness hub on mobile, desktop and television devices. Spotify said eligible Premium users in supported markets can access the full Peloton collection there. (newsroom.spotify.com) Peloton said the partnership puts its classes in front of “hundreds of millions” of Spotify Premium subscribers and makes its instruction available in most countries where Spotify operates. The company said Spotify Premium users will get more than 1,400 ad-free, on-demand classes. (investor.onepeloton.com) Spotify said free and Premium users can also watch or follow workouts from creators including Yoga with Kassandra, Chloe Ting, Pilates Body by Raven, Sweaty Studio and Caitlin K’eli Yoga. TechCrunch reported the launch includes playlists and instructional content for both tiers, with Peloton reserved for Premium in select markets. (newsroom.spotify.com) (techcrunch.com) The move extends a long-running Spotify strategy of adding formats that keep listeners inside its app longer, after earlier pushes into podcasts, audiobooks and video. Spotify said it wants creators and partners like Peloton inside a broader audio-and-video ecosystem tied to daily routines. (newsroom.spotify.com) Peloton is not new to Spotify. The two companies teamed up in November 2021 to create a “Curated by Peloton” shelf inside Spotify’s Workout Hub with playlists built around instructors and class types. (newsroom.spotify.com) The timing also lands as Spotify is trying to show investors new areas for growth. In its first-quarter 2026 results, Spotify said it had 268 million Premium subscribers and 678 million monthly active users, while projecting 299 million Premium subscribers and 778 million monthly active users for the second quarter; Variety reported the stock fell more than 13% after the guidance missed some expectations. (investors.spotify.com) (variety.com) For Peloton, the deal offers distribution beyond its own hardware and app at a time when the company has been widening its commercial and partnership strategy. Its investor site has recently highlighted gym equipment, branded programs and outside collaborations alongside this Spotify rollout. (investor.onepeloton.com) (onepeloton.com) Spotify’s pitch is simple: search “fitness,” pick a class or playlist, and start moving without leaving the app. Peloton’s pitch is just as direct: take classes from its instructors without first buying a Bike or Tread.
