TECNO to Unveil AI-Powered Phone Series at MWC

TECNO is set to debut its new flagship CAMON 50 smartphone series at MWC 2026 in Barcelona. The company will also unveil a broader AI product ecosystem, signaling a major push into AI-driven mobile technology and imaging.

TECNO's focus on AI-powered imaging builds upon the foundation laid at MWC 2025, where it debuted the CAMON 40 series. That lineup introduced features like AI Eraser 2.0 for removing unwanted objects and AIGC Portrait, showcasing the company's initial steps into generative AI for photography. The upcoming CAMON 50 series is expected to feature new AI-driven camera capabilities such as "Super-Zoom FlashSnap" for high-speed captures and "AI Auto Zoom" for intelligent subject framing. This move mirrors trends from competitors like Google, whose Pixel 10 is anticipated to include an AI "Camera Coach" for real-time composition tips, and Samsung's Galaxy S26, which is rumored to enhance its "Nightography" and offer AI-powered "Photo Assist" for easier editing. A key element of TECNO's strategy is its "Universal Tone" technology, an AI-driven feature designed to accurately represent diverse skin tones. The company has been expanding its skin tone database, which now includes 372 color patches to better serve its core markets in Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. Powering these advancements is a strategic partnership with MediaTek, which resulted in a joint AI laboratory established in September 2024. The lab focuses on large language models, AI imaging, and generative AI solutions, aiming to optimize performance on devices for emerging markets. Beyond smartphones, TECNO is building a connected ecosystem of AI-powered devices. At MWC 2025, the company unveiled its MEGABOOK S14 laptop and a series of AI Glasses. The glasses feature the Ella AI assistant for tasks like object recognition, real-time translation, and managing schedules, indicating a broader strategy for integrated AI experiences. The deeply integrated Ella AI assistant is central to this ecosystem, evolving from a simple voice assistant to a comprehensive productivity tool. It now supports over 70 languages and offers features like AI-powered writing assistance, call translation, and meeting summaries, with a focus on localized language recognition for its global user base.
