AEW Revolution Gets Texas Death Match
AEW added new matches to Revolution 2026 on March 15 at Crypto.com Arena. The main event features MJF vs. Hangman Page in a Texas Death Match for the AEW World Championship, with the stipulation that Page can never challenge for the title again if he loses.
A Texas Death Match is one of wrestling's most brutal stipulations, where a winner is only declared when one opponent is unable to answer a ten-count after a pinfall or submission. There are no disqualifications and no count-outs, meaning any weapon is legal and the action can spill anywhere inside or outside the ring. The first recorded Texas Death Match reportedly took place in the mid-1960s in Amarillo, Texas, between Dory Funk Sr. and "Iron" Mike DiBiase. This will be the fourth singles encounter between Maxwell Jacob Friedman and "Hangman" Adam Page, a rivalry that dates back to AEW's very first pay-per-view, Double or Nothing in 2019, where Page last eliminated MJF to win the Casino Battle Royale. Their first one-on-one match was on the November 27, 2019, episode of AEW Dynamite, where MJF defeated Page to win the inaugural Dynamite Diamond Ring. Page evened the score at the Forbidden Door pay-per-view in August 2025, defeating MJF to retain the AEW World Championship. He then secured a second victory over MJF at last year's Revolution event. This year's Revolution marks the second consecutive year the event will be held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The 2025 event at the same venue was main-evented by a three-way match for the AEW World Championship. The Revolution 2026 card also features several other high-stakes championship matches. FTR will defend their AEW World Tag Team Titles against The Young Bucks. Additionally, Jon Moxley is set to defend the AEW Continental Championship against Konosuke Takeshita in a match with no time limit, a rematch from their time-limit draw at AEW Grand Slam Australia. In the women's division, Thekla will defend the AEW Women's World Championship against Kris Statlander in a two-out-of-three-falls match. Other notable non-title matches include Andrade El Idolo facing Bandido and Swerve Strickland taking on Brody King. The AEW Trios Titles will also be on the line as Kazuchika Okada, Kyle Fletcher, and Mark Davis defend against the team of Kevin Knight, Mike Bailey, and Mistico.
