Global reinsurer SCOR has developed an AI Assistant to help its underwriters make faster and more consistent risk decisions. - The AI Assistant is a proprietary, cloud-based solution powered by Generative AI, designed to extract key information from documents of any length, language, or complexity, including those with handwritten text. - This initiative is a component of SCOR's "Forward 2026" strategic plan, which emphasizes digital transformation to augment decision-making and support human judgment in underwriting and claims processing. - After a pilot program with select medical underwriters in 2024, the tool is now used daily by over 150 of SCOR's underwriting and claims experts. - The assistant processes approximately one million pages each month with around 90% accuracy across key data fields and has already demonstrated a 30% time saving in medical underwriting for Life & Health. - The system was developed internally by and for underwriters and is also being offered as a standalone solution to SCOR's clients to help them streamline their own processes. - This tool is part of a larger portfolio of AI-augmented solutions at SCOR, which includes their underwriting manual SOLEM, the automated underwriting system Velogica, and the VClaims system. - The development was spearheaded by SCOR's underwriters, actuaries, data scientists, and Chief Medical Officers, with David Sütterle, CEO of SCOR Digital Solutions, overseeing the client-facing aspects. - In January 2026, SCOR also joined a consortium of over 10 leading insurers to back a global insurance facility for AI and data center infrastructure, acting as the lead insurer for environmental impairment liability.
