Hadestown Welcomes New Cast

Broadway's *Hadestown* welcomed five new principal cast members this week, with fans able to view photos from their first bows at curtain call. The new lineup signals ongoing creative renewal for the acclaimed production. This kind of cast rotation keeps long-running shows fresh while giving new performers chances to tackle iconic roles.

The new principal cast joining the eight-time Tony Award-winning musical includes some familiar faces for screen and stage audiences. J. Harrison Ghee, who takes on the role of Hermes, previously won a Tony Award for their role in *Some Like It Hot*. Playing Hades is Gary Dourdan, widely known for his role in the television series *CSI: Crime Scene Investigation*, making his Broadway debut. Grammy-winning artist Gaby Moreno steps into the role of Persephone, also marking her Broadway debut. The central young dreamers, Orpheus and Eurydice, are now played by Joshua Colley and Jordan Tyson, respectively. Colley has a history with Broadway, having last appeared in *Les Misérables* over a decade ago as a child actor. Tyson recently appeared in the *Gypsy* revival. This new cast takes the reins from Jack Wolfe (Orpheus), Morgan Dudley (Eurydice), Paulo Szot (Hades), Allison Russell (Persephone), and Kurt Elling (Hermes), who all took their final bows on March 1. The Fates will continue to be played by Jessie Shelton, Kay Trinidad, and Brit West. Now in its seventh year at the Walter Kerr Theatre, *Hadestown* has become the longest-running show in the venue's history. The musical, with book, music, and lyrics by Anaïs Mitchell, began as an indie theater project in Vermont before becoming a celebrated concept album and eventually a global phenomenon with productions in the West End and a recently completed North American tour.
