New Waterfront Restaurant for SF's Mission Bay

Hi Neighbor Hospitality Group is opening a new restaurant in San Francisco's Mission Bay neighborhood. The location will be on the waterfront at China Basin. The San Francisco-based restaurant group has not yet revealed the name or concept for the new establishment.

- The restaurant is slated to open in Fall 2026 at 185 Berry Street, directly across from Oracle Park. The design, by architect Cass Calder Smith, features floor-to-ceiling retractable windows, a spacious lounge, and reservable fire pits with views of the Mission Creek channel and the ballpark's Jumbotron. - Hi Neighbor Hospitality Group's Executive Chef, Jason Halverson, will oversee the culinary direction, which is described as a "fine dining–caliber experience" with a menu designed for sharing. While not "over-the-top fine dining," the concept is intended to be refined and will likely open for happy hour to cater to various crowds. - The hospitality group, led by partners Ryan Cole, Tai Ricci, Jason Halverson, and Lucas Bierbower, has a track record of acclaimed establishments. Their portfolio includes the Michelin-starred 7 Adams, The Vault Steakhouse, and Trestle, which holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand award. - The group and its leaders have been recognized as "Restaurateurs of the Year" by both San Francisco Magazine and the Golden Gate Restaurant Association. - This 4,400-square-foot restaurant is part of a historic building at China Basin that property management company McCarthy Cook has significantly renovated. The space has not previously been a restaurant. - The new establishment joins a wave of recent and upcoming high-profile openings in the rapidly developing Mission Bay and nearby Mission Rock area. Other notable additions include a Via Aurelia from the owners of Che Fico, an Arsicault Bakery location, and a Flour + Water Pizza Shop. - The China Basin area is a master-planned redevelopment that includes a mix of office and residential buildings, along with extensive outdoor public spaces like the 5-acre China Basin Park. - In addition to the main restaurant, Hi Neighbor Hospitality Group plans to eventually add an on-site cafe to the space.
