Hillsborough has set its 2026 Memorial Day program for Saturday, May 23, with a veterans breakfast, a 10 a.m. parade and a ceremony at the Garden of Honor. (patch.com) The day starts at 7:30 a.m. with the Salute to Military Service Breakfast at the Peter J. Biondi Municipal Building. Organizers said the breakfast will be held rain or shine, and veterans must register through the township Parks and Recreation office. (patch.com) The parade is scheduled to step off at 10 a.m. from the intersection of Auten and Triangle roads. It will include veterans, the Hillsborough High School Marching Band, youth groups, antique cars, military vehicles and fire trucks before ending at the municipal complex. (patch.com) The closing ceremony is set for the Garden of Honor at the parade finish line. Hillsborough has used that memorial site as the endpoint for its annual remembrance program in recent years. (patch.com) (hillsboroughnj.gov) Mayor Catherine Payne announced on March 24 that Army veteran and Hillsborough Police Corporal Frank Polizzi will serve as grand marshal for the 2026 commemoration. Patch and TAPinto reported that Polizzi served in the Army from 2011 to 2019 and reached the rank of sergeant. (tapinto.net) (patch.com) The event is part of a long-running township tradition. Hillsborough said in 2024 that the community had gathered for 18 years for its veterans breakfast, parade and Garden of Honor program, which puts the 2026 event in roughly its 20th year. (hillsborough-nj.org) (hillsboroughnj.gov) Township notices for the 2024 and 2025 programs used nearly the same format: breakfast first, parade second, ceremony last. The 2026 schedule keeps that structure and again invites Hillsborough military service personnel to take part and lead the program.
