Google has added Gemini-powered safety tools to Ads Advisor, turning its Google Ads assistant into a system that can flag policy problems, watch for account threats, and handle some certifications inside the ad platform. (support.google.com, storyboard18.com) Ads Advisor itself is not new. Google announced the Gemini-based tool in November 2025, said it would roll out to all English-language Google Ads and Google Analytics accounts, and described it as an “agentic conversational experience” that helps advertisers improve performance and troubleshoot policy issues. (blog.google, support.google.com) The April 22, 2026 update adds three features: real-time policy troubleshooting, 24/7 security monitoring, and instant certifications. Trade publications covering the launch said the tools are designed to catch campaign issues before ads are paused and to speed up admin work that can take days or weeks. (storyboard18.com, ppc.land) Policy troubleshooting is the most direct operational change. Google’s help pages already say Ads Advisor can diagnose ads policy issues; the new version pushes that further by surfacing violations in real time and suggesting fixes while campaigns are still being built or edited. (support.google.com, ppc.land) The certification piece matters because some advertisers need Google approval before they can run ads in sensitive categories such as cryptocurrency products and complex speculative financial products. Since February 2026, Google has been moving some of those applications into the Google Ads account itself, under the Policy section, instead of keeping the process only in help-center workflows. (support.google.com, support.google.com) Google is making the same pitch on security. In an April 2026 post about ad safety, the company said Gemini helps detect and block harmful ads in real time, and that by the end of 2025 the majority of Responsive Search Ads were reviewed instantly at submission. (blog.google) That puts Ads Advisor inside a broader Google effort to automate more of the ad business without slowing spending. Over the past month, Google has also pushed Gemini deeper into Google Marketing Platform products such as Display & Video 360, where it says the models now help with media planning and campaign workflows. (blog.google, googlemarketinglive.com) For advertisers, the practical change is that compliance, security, and campaign management are starting to sit in the same interface. Google’s own guidance now frames Ads Advisor less as a chatbot and more as a collaborator that can connect account data to recommended actions inside Google Ads. (blog.google, support.google.com) Google’s ad business still depends on keeping campaigns live, approved, and safe at scale. Gemini’s new job in Ads Advisor is to do more of that maintenance work before a human account manager has to step in. (storyboard18.com, blog.google)
