OpenAI publishes Codex rate card

OpenAI published a Help Center rate card for Codex on May 13 that spells out how the coding product is billed across ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, Edu, Health and Gov plans. The page says Codex usage is now priced by API token consumption, measured in credits per million input, cached input and output tokens, rather than by message. The company said it made that pricing change for Plus, Pro and Business customers on April 2, 2026, and extended it to all existing Enterprise customers, including Edu, Health, Gov and ChatGPT for Teachers, on April 23. The Help Center page says a small subset of Enterprise customers remains on a legacy rate card and should contact OpenAI sales. ### When did OpenAI change how Codex is billed?
