The Cybercab has been spotted with increasing frequency on public roads and at Giga Texas, signaling an acceleration towards commercial launch. These sightings suggest Tesla's road testing and validation program is ramping up significantly ahead of mass production. Tesla began Cybercab production at Giga Texas in February, with continuous production expected to start in April 2026. CEO Elon Musk anticipates a slow start to production, but expects high volume eventually, aiming for 2 million units per year across multiple factories, potentially reaching 4 million. Testing has expanded to multiple states, including California, Texas, and even Washington D.C.. Testing in D.C. is particularly notable, placing the Cybercab in front of federal regulators and policymakers who will shape autonomous vehicle legislation. The Cybercab is designed as a fully autonomous vehicle, lacking a steering wheel or pedals. It's a two-passenger vehicle with butterfly doors, a 35 kWh battery providing a 200-mile range, and inductive charging.
