Massive Texas Oil Refinery Deal Announced

A $300B oil refinery deal in Texas—the first in 50 years—promises thousands of jobs, economic impact, and energy dominance with cleaner tech.

The refinery, developed by America First Refining, is slated to begin construction in the second quarter of 2026. It will be located at the Port of Brownsville, Texas, a designated Economic Opportunity Zone. The project involves a 20-year offtake agreement with an undisclosed global supermajor, solidifying long-term commitments for energy product distribution. This agreement encompasses the purchase and processing of 1.2 billion barrels of U.S. light shale oil, valued at $125 billion, and the production of 50 billion gallons of refined products, worth $175 billion. Unlike many existing refineries, this one will exclusively process American shale oil, sourced from areas like the Permian Basin. It's designed to handle approximately 60 million barrels annually, reducing reliance on foreign oil supplies and bolstering U.S. energy independence. The refinery aims to produce over 160,000 barrels daily of products like gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel, catering to both domestic and international markets. President Trump has touted the project's potential to improve the U.S. trade imbalance by $300 billion.
