Overseas Adventure Travel Launches 2027 Collection

Overseas Adventure Travel has launched its "2027 Immersions Collection," featuring shorter, more intentionally paced adventures designed for deeper destination engagement without marathon itineraries. The collection reflects a growing trend toward mindful travel among adventure seekers who prioritize quality over quantity in their experiences.

- Overseas Adventure Travel (O.A.T.) was founded in 1978 by a former high school teacher, Judi Wineland, making her the first woman to establish and run an adventure travel company. In 1993, the company was acquired by the Grand Circle Corporation, which primarily serves American travelers aged 50 and over. - The new "Immersions" collection, first introduced for 2026, is being expanded for 2027 with 12 itineraries in locations across Europe, Africa, Asia, and Latin America. These trips are shorter, ranging from 8 to 12 days, a shift from the company's traditionally longer offerings. - Example itineraries for the 2027 collection include a 10-day trip to Japan featuring travel by bullet train and a 9-day tour of Italy's iconic cities with experiences like a Vespa ride through Tuscany. Prices for these trips start from $7,499 and $4,999 per person, respectively. - The move toward shorter, more immersive trips reflects a broader post-pandemic travel trend where travelers prioritize meaningful and authentic experiences, wellness, and deeper cultural connections over seeing as much as possible. - O.A.T. specializes in small-group travel, with a maximum of 16 travelers on land trips and 25 on trips involving a ship. The company has a strong base of solo travelers, who make up 47% of their clientele, and offers free single supplements on all its land adventures. - The company operates under its parent, Grand Circle Corporation, which was founded in 1958 to provide travel opportunities for AARP members. Through its Grand Circle Foundation, established in 1992, the company has pledged or donated over $200 million to educational and humanitarian projects worldwide.
