Prezi Named a Top AI Presentation Tool
Software Experts has recognized Prezi as a leading AI-powered presentation platform in its 2026 review. The company was highlighted for its ability to turn simple prompts or documents into structured, visually engaging presentations.
Founded in 2009 in Budapest, Hungary, by Adam Somlai-Fischer, Peter Halacsy, and Peter Arvai, Prezi initially gained traction with its unique zooming user interface (ZUI) as a departure from traditional slide-based presentations. The company secured its first major investment from TED just two months after incorporating. Prezi has raised a total of $71.2 million in funding over four rounds, with key investors including Accel and Spectrum Equity. This venture capital backing fueled its expansion, including the opening of a San Francisco office in late 2009. The company's push into artificial intelligence began more recently, with the introduction of Prezi AI in 2024. This was followed by a series of significant AI feature upgrades in early 2026, including the ability to generate presentations from various file types and the introduction of an AI image generator. Under the leadership of CEO Jim Szafranski, who took over from co-founder Peter Arvai in 2020, the company has focused on integrating AI across its product suite, which includes Prezi Present, Prezi Video, and Prezi Design. Szafranski, who holds degrees from MIT and Stanford, previously helped lead Fiberlink to an acquisition by IBM. While Prezi has a significant presence in San Francisco and Budapest, it does not currently have a major office in the Los Angeles area. The AI presentation market is becoming increasingly competitive, with Prezi facing rivals like Tome, Pitch, and Canva, which are also heavily integrating AI into their platforms. The overall market for AI presentation tools was estimated at $2 billion in 2025 and is projected to grow significantly.
