SF Space Walk — Citywide 4/20 Strain Releases
- Week-long cannabis celebration culminating on 4/20 where seven growers release strains at lounges across San Francisco. - Multiple pop-ups and lounge events run citywide during the week of Apr 20 for 4/20 enthusiasts. - Overview and participating venues are covered in USA Today’s roundup: usatoday.com.
San Francisco’s 4/20 week has shifted from one park gathering to a citywide crawl called SF Space Walk, ending Monday, April 20. (usatoday.com) The event runs April 14-20 and is built around a simple format: seven growers, seven new strains, seven lounges, seven nights. The official festival site calls it San Francisco’s “week of weed” with art, music, books and food layered around the drops. (sfspacewalk.com) San Francisco Travel says most events are free with a reservation, while some require tickets. The city guide lists stops including SPARC on Polk, Mission Cannabis Club, Solful on Irving, Moe Greens, Fig & Thistle, Club Six on Ninth Street, and 7 Stars in Richmond on April 19. (sftravel.com) The week is filling part of the gap left by the canceled Hippie Hill 4/20 celebration in Golden Gate Park. KTVU reported Monday that the official park event was canceled for a third straight year. (ktvu.com) KRON4 reported organizers launched this year’s program at Moe Greens and said they hope to draw about 4,000 people. Organizer David Downs told the station the idea is to connect small-batch growers directly with customers inside licensed lounges. (kron4.com) That lounge model is specific to San Francisco’s cannabis map. The San Francisco Department of Public Health publishes rules for on-site cannabis consumption, and SF.gov says adults 21 and older can legally buy and use cannabis from licensed retailers. (sf.gov 1) (sf.gov 2) The city guide shows how the week is spread across neighborhoods instead of centered on one stage. On April 15, Mission Cannabis Club hosts a “415 Day” event; on April 17, Moe Greens hosts Umma Sonoma and Bosky Genetics; on April 18, Fig & Thistle hosts Sonoma Hills Farm before a larger night event at Club Six. (sftravel.com) Sunday’s program crosses the bay for a Richmond stop at 7 Stars, where San Francisco Travel says Snowtill plans to release Galactic and Screamberry. Monday’s finale returns to San Francisco as the week closes on 4/20 after seven nights of lounge drops. (sftravel.com)
