Palantir Opens Applications for AI Fellowship
Palantir has opened applications for its second Startup Fellowship cohort. The 8-week program gives an elite group of builders hands-on support to create agentic AI products on Palantir's AIP platform, offering a direct path for engineers to gain portfolio-worthy experience and network within the AI startup scene.
The Palantir Startup Fellowship is an equity-free, eight-week program providing startups with full access to Palantir's Foundry and Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP). Each participating company receives dedicated support from Palantir's Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) to help design and build their products. The program is hybrid, with weekly virtual programming and three in-person events, culminating in a showcase where startups present to Palantir leadership and investors. The fellowship specifically targets early-stage startups (Series B or earlier) with at least one full-time developer committed to the program. The inaugural cohort included 25 startups from various sectors, such as Atlas Care in healthcare, Enhanced Radar in aviation safety, and Superscript, which focuses on efficiency in the U.S. healthcare market. This highlights the program's industry-agnostic approach, welcoming builders from any field. Fellows will build on Palantir's AIP, a platform designed for creating "agentic AI" products. This involves developing AI agents that can perform complex, multi-step tasks autonomously by interacting with a digital twin of an organization, known as an "Ontology." For a computer science student, this offers hands-on experience in ML systems design, where you can build agents that, for example, automate clinical trial eligibility screening by analyzing patient data against trial criteria. For those interested in fintech, a portfolio project could involve using AIP to build an agentic workflow for fraud detection. By training an agent on transactional data, you could develop a system that not only identifies potentially fraudulent activities in real-time but also initiates actions like flagging accounts or generating alerts for manual review. In biotech, a project could focus on leveraging AIP to accelerate drug discovery by creating an agent that analyzes research papers and clinical trial data to identify promising research directions. While Palantir's student and early talent programs like the "Launch: Spring Program" are often held in New York or Washington D.C., the company maintains a presence in Los Angeles. Engineering roles, including positions for Software Engineers specializing in Palantir Foundry, are available in the LA area. In the past, Palantir has held recruiting events and product demos specifically for USC students, often promoted through the university's Career Center.
