Flock.io teases FOMO marketplace
Flock.io’s Q1 recap mentions 'FOMO' — the FLock Open Model Offering — on Base as a new decentralized model economy for lifecycle, distribution and monetization. The recap positions FOMO as a channel for model distribution and commercialisation on chain. (x.com)
Flock.io is building a marketplace on Base where artificial intelligence models can be launched, traded and monetized as on-chain assets. (flock.io) The product is called FLock Open Model Offering, or FOMO, and Flock launched it on January 15, 2026 as a beta “model as an asset” platform tied to its application programming interface business. (flock.io) Flock’s documentation says FOMO links three pieces that are usually separate: model deployment, paid inference requests, and token incentives. In plain terms, a developer puts a model online, users pay to call it, and the protocol routes that usage into an on-chain economy. (docs.flock.io) The company says value is supposed to come from actual use rather than pure speculation. Its docs describe model tokens as “usage-backed” assets, with revenue starting from inference paid in fiat currency or USDC, a dollar-pegged crypto token. (docs.flock.io, docs.flock.io) That setup is the pitch behind the new marketplace language in Flock’s recent updates. Flock’s 2026 roadmap says FOMO’s beta launch in the first quarter was meant to be the company’s first public system for model assetization and distribution. (docs.flock.io) The mechanics are closer to a launchpad than a simple app store. Flock says a model issuer starts a Real Model Asset Offering, opens a 7-day fundraising window in FLOCK tokens, and only mints the model token if the launch clears preset thresholds. (docs.flock.io) If a launch succeeds, the model goes live on Flock’s application programming interface platform, the token supply is fixed, and initial liquidity is created and locked for secondary trading. Flock’s docs say each marketplace swap carries a 1.5% platform transaction fee. (docs.flock.io, docs.flock.io) The marketplace was live as of April 2026. Flock’s public FOMO site showed 7 active models, 3 live Real Model Asset launches, and total volume of 2.2 million FLOCK tokens when it was crawled this week. (fomo.flock.io) Flock frames the product as the demand-side half of a broader decentralized artificial intelligence stack that already includes training, federated learning and an application programming interface layer. The company’s website says the wider network has 211 artificial intelligence developers, 280 validators and 704.5K model users. (flock.io) The open question is whether paid model usage will be large enough to support token prices over time. Flock’s own materials say the system works only if inference revenue keeps flowing through the marketplace it is now trying to seed on Base. (docs.flock.io, flock.io)
