Hyderabad's Tech Hub Status Grows with Major Expansions
Hyderabad is solidifying its position as a global enterprise technology hub as Sanofi more than doubled its Global Capability Centre workforce to approximately 5,000 specialists focused on R&D and AI. In parallel, Rx Propellant is investing $100 million in a new life sciences campus. The Telangana government further stated its ambition to develop a world-class "Health City" and become a global leader in integrated life sciences.
- Sanofi's Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Hyderabad, initially focused on medical services in 2019, has expanded to support R&D, digital innovation, AI, data analytics, and commercial operations globally. The recent expansion adds over 2.7 lakh square meters of workspace, making it one of the top three pharmaceutical GCCs in India. - The growth of Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in India represents a shift from back-office support to high-value innovation hubs. India is now home to over 1,700 GCCs employing more than 1.9 million people, with the market projected to reach up to $110 billion by 2030. - Rx Propellant's new 1GV campus is a 136,000 sq. ft. research and innovation facility located in Genome Valley, one of Asia's largest life sciences clusters. The campus is designed with a focus on sustainability, holding LEED Platinum and IFC EDGE Advanced Pre-Certification. - Hyderabad's Genome Valley is a major life sciences hub, hosting over 200 companies, including six of the top 10 global R&D firms like Novartis and Syngene.
