At-Home Aesthetics Startup Lands Funding

Persimmon.Life, a service for premium at-home aesthetics and wellness, has landed a multi-million-dollar investment from Decathlon Capital Partners. The deal is structured as flexible, dilution-free growth capital, an alternative to traditional VC equity rounds.

The deal with Decathlon Capital Partners is a form of revenue-based financing (RBF), a popular non-dilutive funding alternative for startups with predictable revenue. This model allows Persimmon.Life to secure growth capital by agreeing to pay back a percentage of future revenues until a predetermined cap is reached, avoiding the equity sale and loss of control typical of a VC round. Founded in 2021 by Mark Hadfield and Matthew Bartlett, Persimmon.Life operates a tech-enabled platform connecting clients with a network of over 500 registered nurses for at-home treatments. The company, led by CEO Matthew Bartlett, aims to make medical aesthetics more convenient and accessible, claiming its services are 15-25% more affordable than traditional medspas. The Larkspur, CA-based startup has developed its own "Persimmon Academy" to train and certify its nurse providers, ensuring standardized, high-quality care. This focus on clinical excellence has helped the company garner over 12,000 five-star reviews for its services, which include neurotoxin injections like Xeomin, chemical peels, and micro-needling. Persimmon.Life is tapping into a rapidly growing market for at-home beauty and wellness services, a sector driven by consumer demand for convenience and non-invasive cosmetic procedures. The global aesthetic medicine market was valued at over $82 billion in 2023, indicating a significant addressable market for a scalable, at-home service model. The company plans to use the new capital for geographic expansion and to grow its team of specialists. This expansion is supported by a key partnership with Massage Envy, which will see Persimmon.Life offer its "SmartTox®" injectable treatments at select franchise locations in Arizona and California, broadening its reach beyond a purely at-home model.
