Sherpas Wealth Raises $3.2M

San Francisco-based Sherpas Wealth raised $3.2M in seed funding led by 1248 for AI-powered wealth management services. The Bay Area startup scene continues showing strength with South Park Commons batch successes including Koah Labs ($20M), Profound ($96M), and Further AI ($25M). Afore Capital and Gamma are offering up to $1M for 10 pre-seed teams as part of their accelerator program.

- Sherpas Wealth was founded by CEO Borja Edo, previously the Head of Innovation Labs at LPL Financial; COO Francisco Micó, who co-founded and sold Finametrix to AllFunds; and CTO Sergio Moreno, an open-source author whose frameworks are used by major tech companies. - The company's AI-native platform is not meant to replace human advisors but to augment their capabilities by automating the analytical groundwork for financial plans. This can reduce the time it takes to create a client-ready plan from hours to under 20 minutes. - The $3.2M in funding will be used to enhance the platform's decision-making frameworks for retirement, tax, investment, and risk planning, and to deepen integrations with existing enterprise systems used by advisory firms. - Lead investor 1248 is the family office of Marty Bicknell, the founder and CEO of Mariner Wealth Advisors. Other investors in the seed round include AUA Private Equity Capital and GoHub Ventures. - As part of the funding deal, Steve Lockshin, a recognized innovator in wealth management and founder of Vanilla and AdvicePeriod, will join the Sherpas Wealth board of directors. - The Bay Area remains a dominant hub for venture capital, attracting over $122 billion for AI funding alone in 2025, which accounts for more than 75% of all U.S. AI investment. - The Afore Capital and Gamma accelerator, known as The Ideas To Reality Fund, is a $10 million initiative where Afore will invest up to $1 million each in 10 pre-seed stage teams. Gamma, a $2 billion company with 70 million users, serves as a promotional partner and will not be involved in the investment decisions.
