Urban Strife RPG Gets Major Beta

Urban Strife announced a major beta update for their turn-based post-apocalyptic survival RPG, featuring overhauled ballistics, revised armor systems, balanced injuries, and a new "Mason's Hardware" story episode. The tactical RPG continues evolving based on player feedback.

The project is the debut title from White Pond Games, a Romanian studio founded by ex-Ubisoft developers Razvan Radu and Alex Trutescu, who have titles like the *Assassin's Creed* series, *Tom Clancy's* games, and *ZombieU* on their resumes. They have reportedly been working on *Urban Strife* for over seven years, with a demo first shown at Gamescom in 2017. The game is published by MicroProse, a legendary name in strategy games known for the original *X-COM* and *Civilization* series. *Urban Strife* aims to blend the turn-based tactical depth of classics like *Jagged Alliance 2* with the grim survival atmosphere of media like *The Walking Dead*. It utilizes a classic Action Points system for combat, rather than the two-action system common in modern tactical games. Player reception since its December 10, 2024, Early Access launch on Steam has been "Mostly Positive." The core gameplay loop involves scavenging, base building, and navigating alliances or conflicts with the game's three main factions: Army rebels, a zombie-worshipping cult, and a violent biker gang. The development roadmap is structured in phases to deliver the complete main story campaign during Early Access. A February 2026 update introduced "Phase 2," which allows players to formally ally with a faction and unlock unique upgrades and traders. The final phase will culminate in a massive zombie horde attack on the player's home base, testing all the preparations made throughout the campaign.
