T-Mobile, Huawei, and Ubiquisys Announce Femtocell Interoperability Test
T-Mobile, Ubiquisys, and Huawei have co-operated on a memorandum of understanding for the first multi-vendor interoperability test of femtocells. The tests will be based on 3GPP-standardized interfaces. This initiative highlights the critical role of interoperability testing in ensuring a diverse vendor ecosystem and stable SEP licensing regimes.
- The interoperability tests focused on the 3GPP Release 8 "Iuh" interface standard, which was finalized in April 2009 to connect a femtocell (Home NodeB) to a core network gateway. This effort, a collaboration between 3GPP, the Femto Forum, and the Broadband Forum, was designed to replace the various proprietary architectures that had initially fragmented the market. [
