Weezer drops new single

Weezer released 'Shine Again,' the first single from their upcoming 16th studio album, and it was produced by Kenny Beats — a notable pairing that suggests a different sonic angle. The single arrived days after a Los Angeles rooftop pop‑up and comes ahead of a planned 2026 U.S. tour, so expect more live dates and promotions soon. (wdhafm.com)

Weezer just put out a new song called “Shine Again,” and the surprise is not only the song itself but the producer credit: Kenneth Blume, better known as Kenny Beats, is listed on the track alongside Klas Åhlund. “Shine Again” runs 4 minutes and 5 seconds, and Apple Music lists it as a March 23, 2026 song on a single released April 1, 2026 under Warner Records, under exclusive license from Weezer. Billboard reported that “Shine Again” is the first single from Weezer’s 16th studio album, which has not been given a public title yet. That makes this less like a one-off drop and more like the opening scene of a full album cycle. The Kenny Beats part stands out because he is better known for sharp, modern records with rappers and pop acts than for steering a veteran guitar band into its 16th album. Apple Music’s credits show he produced this song, while Klas Åhlund, who has worked across pop and rock, is also credited as producer. Weezer set up the release with a rooftop performance in Venice Beach, where Rolling Stone said the band played an acoustic pop-up on Friday as part of a Los Angeles promo push for both the new single and the coming tour. That is the kind of stunt bands use when they want a song to feel like an event before the arena dates start. The tour already has a name: “The Gathering.” Billboard reported the North American run as a 32-city arena tour with The Shins and Silversun Pickups, and Weezer’s official site shows dates beginning September 8, 2026 in Sacramento and ending October 24, 2026 in Los Angeles. Weezer’s tour page lists stops at Chase Center in San Francisco on September 9, United Center in Chicago on September 22, Barclays Center in Brooklyn on September 30, and Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on October 24. Live Nation’s listing shows the same stretch, which suggests the routing is locked in rather than tentative. Ticketmaster’s event page says the general sale for “WEEZER: The Gathering” began Friday, April 3, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. local time, and it lists 29 shows on its help page. The difference between 29 and 32 appears to come from how different outlets count Canadian dates or market listings, but the tour itself is clearly a full fall arena run. So the picture now is pretty clear: Weezer has opened its next era with one new song, one unusual producer pairing, one rooftop teaser in Los Angeles, and one large fall tour already on sale. The album still does not have a public title, which means the next announcements are likely to be the album name, release date, and more songs before September.
