This agent can be instructed to perform specific web scraping tasks, such as checking a company's website for SOC-II compliance or identifying their current tech stack. This moves beyond simple data pulling to generating actionable insights for sales campaigns. The company has seen explosive growth, with revenue reportedly increasing tenfold in both 2022 and 2023. This hyper-growth attracted significant investment, culminating in a $100 million Series C funding round in August 2025, which pushed the company's valuation to $3.1 billion. The round was led by CapitalG, Alphabet's independent growth fund. Clay is part of a larger movement redefining sales roles, promoting what it calls the "GTM (go-to-market) Engineer." This emerging role combines skills in sales, marketing, and AI automation to build and manage automated revenue generation systems, shifting focus from manual outreach to strategic system building. Clients using this approach include major tech companies like OpenAI, Anthropic, and Canva.
