Passwork Updates Enterprise Password Manager
Passwork, a self-hosted enterprise password management solution, announced the launch of its version 7.4 update. The new release introduces advanced restrictive settings for user vaults and other enhancements aimed at strengthening security for corporate clients. The update is available now for Passwork's enterprise customers.
- The new restrictive settings in version 7.4 allow administrators to centrally block specific actions within all user vaults, such as adding new users and groups, sending passwords, and creating password links or shortcuts. These restrictions are designed to reduce the risk of data leaks but do not apply to "Company vaults". - This update follows version 7.3, released in January 2026, which added support for biometric authentication and passkeys via the WebAuthn standard, as well as the ability to add multiple URLs to a single password entry. - Passwork is a privately held, founder-owned company headquartered in Barcelona, Spain. Originally founded in Finland, the company is now fully EU-based and emphasizes compliance with European data sovereignty and GDPR regulations. - The platform is designed as a unified system for both standard password management and DevOps-focused secrets management, offering programmatic access through a REST API, Python connector, and CLI tools. - Passwork is positioning itself to expand into the Privileged Access Management (PAM) market, which focuses on controlling and monitoring access for accounts with elevated permissions. - The global enterprise password management market was valued at approximately $1.2 billion in 2023 and is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of about 16.6%, driven by rising cyber attacks and stringent data protection regulations.
