New Music Friday Explodes
March 6 drops are massive — Denzel Curry & The Scythe's *Strictly 4 The Scythe* features Smino, Juicy J, and Luh Tyler, while Ty Dolla $ign releases *Girl Music Vol. 1* with Leon Thomas and Brandy. Nettspend's *Early Life Crisis* includes NBA Youngboy and Osamason, plus singles from Juice WRLD & Marshmello and 50 Cent.
Denzel Curry's new project marks a return to a more collaborative, crew-oriented ethos reminiscent of his early days with Raider Klan. The new collective, The Scythe, features A$AP Ferg, Bktherula, TiaCorine, and Key Nyata. The album is said to be a deliberate pivot to a raw, regional Southern sound, drawing from the textures of Memphis, Houston, and Miami hip-hop. Ty Dolla $ign's *Girl Music Vol. 1* follows his recent high-profile work, including a headlining performance at an exclusive Formula 1 party in Melbourne. The New York Times has hailed him as "one of the richest R&B talents of the last decade." This new EP is described as having an organic vibe driven by a live band and focuses on themes of love and relationships. The release of Nettspend's debut album, *Early Life Crisis*, was preceded by a unique and immersive rollout that included a mural and a "wellness hotline." The album's themes are said to reflect the pressures and anxieties of a generation being pushed into adulthood too quickly. This follows his viral ascent which began with a snippet of his song "Drankdrankdrank" on Twitter and his 2024 debut mixtape, *Bad Ass F*cking Kid*. The posthumous single from Juice WRLD and Marshmello is their third official collaboration. Their previous tracks, "Come & Go" and "Hate The Other Side," both debuted in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 and have collectively amassed over 1.7 billion streams. Marshmello has stated that he and Juice WRLD were on the same page musically and that their time creating together was one of the most exciting in his life.
