Hong Kong Hosts Asia's 50 Best
Hong Kong hosts Asia's 50 Best Restaurants for the first time this March, sparking citywide culinary celebration. The prestigious event is expected to boost tourism and elevate Hong Kong's profile as a global dining capital.
While this is Hong Kong's first time hosting, the awards ceremony has recently been held in cities like Seoul. The event's location changes periodically, bringing a global spotlight to the host's culinary landscape. The list is compiled from the votes of the Asia's 50 Best Restaurants Academy, a group of over 350 food writers, critics, chefs, and restaurateurs from across the continent. Deloitte independently adjudicates the voting process, where each expert confidentially nominates restaurants they have visited in the last 18 months. Hong Kong is no stranger to the prestigious list. Cantonese institution The Chairman took the top spot in 2021, and in the 2025 rankings, it placed second, with Wing restaurant close behind at number three. Seven Hong Kong restaurants made it into the top 50 in 2025. The awards ceremony on March 25 is the centerpiece of a week-long program of culinary events. This includes 11 official "50 Best Signature Sessions," featuring collaborations between local and international chefs for limited-time menus. These one-off events pair acclaimed Hong Kong establishments with top restaurants from across Asia. Collaborations include a meeting of Chinese and Korean culinary heritage between WING (Hong Kong) and Onjium from Seoul, and a "14-hands" dinner at Estro (Hong Kong) featuring chefs from Bangkok, Singapore, Tokyo, and Seoul. This event follows a landmark year for the city's hospitality industry. In 2025, Hong Kong became the first city to have venues named both The World's Best Bar and The World's Best Hotel in the same year by the 50 Best organization.
